Motorcycles at Battlefield RunSeptember 2014 — ISS is proud to provide sponsorship of the 2014 Battlefield Run (Saturday September 20, 2014) supporting the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) providing college scholarship grants, based on need, along with financial aid and educational counseling to the children of Special Operations personnel from the Army Special Forces, Rangers, Navy SEALs, and Air Force and Marine Corps Special Operations Command that have been killed in operational missions or training accidents.

This annual event, organized and hosted by Neal Zimmerman (ISS), is now entering its 11th year and the Battlefield Run route starts in Leesburg VA, goes through four states, 19 counties and three national battlefields, and ends at the Gettysburg Battlefield. . “Over the past years the Battlefield Run has raised thousands of dollars, averaging 30 K each year over the last 3 years and with an average of 150 riders and 250 participants from across the US and some SOF friends coming in from New Zealand, Australia and Canada. Yes, we have dedicated groups of foreign SOF that have worked with me in many “garden spots” from the past and they are continuing to make a huge sacrifice to be part of this event. This year is much like the past few where the SOF community has had some great successes and very tragic losses. With 140 children in college, and another 950 (up from 600 last year) in the pipeline. In past years, I said my goal was to raise at least $30,000 each year and we have been successful in doing so. Last year was the monumental 10th Anniversary of this Ride and my goal is to raise 50K on this marked occasion. I am looking for our senior sponsors to step up again and help me get a very good start towards that goal. Please join us this year and wind your way through Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania visiting sacred sites while helping us meet the goal.”
